Charles City boys second at home meet

Mason Jefferson was a double-event winner and joined as part of Charles City boys’ 4×100 meter relay team as the Panthers finished second during an Apr. 30 four-team meet.

Charles City scored 68.5 points, finishing runner-up to Lancaster’s 111.5 and ahead of Essex’s 22 and West Point’s 21 points.

Jefferson won the 100 and 200 meter dash with times of 11.64 and 24.22, respectively. Joining Marvin Brown, Jaquane Wyatt, and Walter Gordon, the team ran 45.49 in the 4×100 meter relay to take the win. Cecil Tyler was the other lone event winner for the Panthers, taking the discus with a throw of 101’11”.

For the girls, Kylee Brinkley accounted for all six points for the Lady Panthers with third place finishes in the 100 meter dash and 800 meter run. West Point girls claimed victory at the meet with 69 points, followed by Lancaster’s 53 and Essex’s 43.
