Jefferson leads Panthers to 17th place finish at states
Mason Jefferson helped account for all nine points for Charles City’s Panthers track and field team as they finished 17th in the Group 1A State Track & Field meet on June 5-6 at Radford University.
Jefferson finished fourth in the boys’ 100 meter dash with a time of 11.25 and followed that time up with a time of 23.20 in the 200 meter dash, good enough for an eighth place finish. Jefferson joined teammates Kyle Jones, Jaquane Wyatt, and Walter Gordon in the boys’ 4×100 meter relay to run a season best time of 44.77, good enough for a sixth place finish.
Jones was the other lone event participant in the boys’ high jump, finishing 11th with a clearance of 5’8”. Auburn High School won the boys’ meet with a score of 86.5 points.
