Charles City’s Co-Ed soccer team struggled against a high-powered offense in West Point’s visiting Pointers Monday afternoon.

Charles City played evenly with the guests for the first ten minutes of the game, but the Pointers scored three goals in four minutes before finishing the first half with a 7-0 lead. West Point added three more in the second half to cruise to a 10-0 victory over the Panthers.

The Panthers struggled against the offensive minded Pointers, who kept the ball on the hosts side of the field a majority of the contest. For the game, Charles City only had two shots on goal. By contrast, West Point attempted 24 attempts.

“I think this is the most aggressive team we played so far,” said Panther head coach Grant Martin. “They are also a team who has a lot of experience.

“There really isn’t a substitute for experience,” he continued. “But in the first half, we didn’t compete at all and I told the team at halftime we needed to compete. We did a better job in the second half and I saw that.”

Charles City’s record drops to 1-6 on the season.
