Williams named CIAA Sports Information Director of the Year

Jolisa Williams, a former standout basketball player for Charles City High School, was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Sports Information Director of the Year.

Williams received the John Holley Award during a May 16 reception. She is employed by Shaw University in North Carolina and was acknowledged for her communication skills, promotion of athletic programs, use of social media platforms, relaunching a new athletics webpage, and navigating game day procedures and duties.

Williams graduated from Charles City High School in 2008 where she was a four-time Tri-Rivers District team member in basketball. She was named district and Region A player of the year in 2007, earning a scholarship to St. Augustine’s University.

Williams graduated with a Bachelors in Sports Management from St. Augustine’s University and earned a Master’s Degree in Sports Management from Virginia State University in 2014. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education in Athletic Administration from Northcentral University.
