Charles City’s Jefferson places in three events at 1A East Regional track meet

Charles City’s Panthers scored 10 points, finishing in 14th place at the 1A East Regional Meet on May 26 at Sussex.

Senior Mason Jefferson qualified in three events for the Group 1A state meet, finishing fifth in the 100-meter dash (11.62) and 200-meter dash (23.19), and adding a fourth-place finish in the long jump (19’6”). Classmate Kyle Jones accounted for the other Panther points, placing fifth in the high jump with a clearance of 6’0”.

Conference 42 rival Cumberland claimed the boys’ title with 72 points. Charles City girls’ team did not score at the competition, with Riverheads Lady Gladiators winning the meet with 60 points.
