New Kent golf places third at Group 3A championships

New Kent High School’s golf team posted a two-round combined score of 678, finishing in third place at the Group 3A State Golf championships on Oct. 10-11 at Glenrochie Country Club.

Robb Kinder finished in a tie for third place, posting a cumulative score of 150 at the event. Teammates Kyle Peck and Slater Gammon completed the course in a four-way tie for 20th, shooting a score of 170. Charles Miles finished tied for 38th with a score of 190 while Shaun Coons posted a 195 to finish 41st, and C.J. Krawiec rounded out the scoring with a 233.

Abingdon won the state championship with a score of 645, followed by Rockbridge’s 658. William Monroe rounded out the team competition with a two-round score of 711.
