Trojans edged for team title at Charles City Invitational

New Kent’s boys’ track and field team were edged for the team title at Charles City’s Invitational meet last Saturday.
The Trojans scored 71 points to finish runner-up at the meet, being edged by Clover Hill who took the title with 76 points. Thomas Dale rounded up the top three with 67 points. Charles City’s boys did not score at the meet.
C.J. Reeders leap of 42’6½” and Kyle Coles airborne launch of 41’9” helped the Trojans go one-two in the boys’ triple jump. Reeders and Coles joined Evan Branch and Julius Jacobs in the 4×100 relay to run a time of 44.71, finishing second in the event.
On the girls’ side, New Kent’s Lady Trojans scored 28 points to finish tenth out of 20 teams. Charles City’s girls scored three to finish in 16th place. Thomas Dale took home the team title with 101.5 points.
