New Kent’s Trojans had reason to celebrate as pitcher Aaron Wiggins posted a no-hitter Friday against the Tabb Tigers. The offense assisted the pitcher’s effort, pushing across three runs for the 3-0 victory.
The story of the day belonged to Wiggins who commanded the pitcher’s mound. The pitcher orchestrated double digit strikeouts. Meanwhile, New Kent’s offense scored two runs in the third and added one more in the sixth inning to accompany the no-hitter.
After the game, a jubilant Trojan head coach Michael Kuper talked about Wiggins’ command on the mound.
“He played well today,” said the head coach. “I was very proud of his command and his slide today was great stuff.
“We played a very good ball club,” Kuper continued. “This being the second half of our season, we needed a performance like this from our players.”
The Trojans won its third game in a row, improving their record to 4-7.
