Charles City girls, boys 11th at 1A Regional Meet
Charles City’s boys’ 4×100 meter relay team of Cameron Vaden, Steven Williams Jr., Robert Dobson, and Jordan Cotman ran a time of 44.42, edging out Franklin to claim first in the Class 1A Region A meet on May 24 at Sussex Central High School.
The boys’ team scored 12 points to finish 11th at the meet. Dobson finished sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.86 while Vaden also earned a sixth-place finish in the boys’ long jump with a leap of 19’6”.
For the Lady Panthers, Laina Brown will make her first appearance at the state track meet after finishing third in the girls’ 100-meter hurdles. Brown ran a time of 19.30 to bring home the bronze and accumulate the only points for Charles City’s girls in the meet. The Lady Panthers scored six points to finish 11th at the meet as well.
West Point’s girls and Lancaster’s boys won the 1A Region A meets, respectively.
