Virginia’s high school volleyball ‘Coach of the Year’

New Kent head volleyball coach Cynthia Burnett (right) was named as the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) Virginia Volleyball Coach of the Year for 2016-17. In her 30 years at the helm of New Kent’s volleyball program, Burnett has racked up 468 wins, ranking her second all-time in the state among both retired and active coaches. In addition to bringing home a state championship in 2000 and a state runner-up trophy in 2001, she has accumulated two regional titles, five district titles, and made nine state appearances while racking up a 67 percent winning rate.
