Tabb takes advantage of penalty strokes, shuts out New Kent 6-0
Tabb’s Lady Tigers stormed their way into the Ed Allen memorial complex Monday night, cruising to a 6-0 win over New Kent’s Lady Trojans in field hockey action.
The visitors forced 20 penalty corners compared to zero for New Kent. Tabb’s Gracie Roberts took advantage of two of those penalty corners, punching in scores at the 24:53 and 17:20 marks of the first half. Lady Tiger teammate Abby Heckler used another penalty corner to up the advantage to 3-0 at the break.
Tabb continued the offensive output, adding three goals in the second half and having the contest come to a close via slaughter rule at the 8:39 mark.
Lady Trojans head coach Matt Duckworth tried to be positive after the team’s first loss of the season.
“I am happy with the effort,” he said. “We kept up our level of heart in this game.
“The penalty corners snowballed into the advantage for them and we hoped to get more pressure, but it just didn’t happen,” Duckworth concluded.
New Kent falls to 2-1 on the season while Tabb matches their record with the win.
