Reeders breaks school record in triple jump, finishes third at Dogwood Track Classic
New Kent’s C.J. Reeders leaped to a school record of 47’4½” in the boys’ triple jump, finishing third at the 55th annual Dogwood Track Classic in Charlottesville on Saturday. Reeders’ mark eclipses his previous school record by two feet.
Both Charles City and New Kent athletes participated in the prestigious event that required a specific time or mark for entry. New Kent’s girls’ 4×100 meter relay team of Melissa Spangler, Julia Hathaway, Jakeira Thomas, and Queen Frazier earned a qualifying berth to the Group 3A state meet with a time of 51.08. For Charles City, Cameron Vaden’s personal best time of 11.56 in the boys’ 100-meter dash earned him a bid for the Group 1A Region A championship meet.
