Harris’ school record triple jump highlights New Kent girls’ fourth-place finish

New Kent Lady Trojan Raven Harris leaped to a first-place finish and a new school record of 37’3” in the girls’ triple jump as the Lady Trojans finished in fourth place at the May 8 Bay Rivers District meet.

Joining Harris as an event winner at the meet was Tanieya Matlock, whose clearance of 4’8” in the girls’ high jump earned her the win.

New Kent’s 77 points followed Grafton (112), Tabb (97.5), and Jamestown (89) at the meet. The Lady Trojans finished ahead of York (56), Lafayette (44.5), Warhill (44), Bruton (34), Smithfield (13), and Poquoson (12).

On the boys’ side, New Kent Trojans strung together a 34-point performance, good enough to finish in a sixth-place tie with Warhill.
Tabb (123) and Grafton (111) were runaway winners at the meet, followed by Jamestown (97), Lafayette (55), and Smithfield (50). The Trojans finished ahead of York (29), Bruton (25), and Poquoson (6).
