Reeders, Harris both win triple jump at Group 3A state championships

New Kent’s C.J. Reeders and Raven Harris emerged as state champions in their respective triple jump events at the Group 3A State Track and Field Championships held May 31-June 1 in Lynchburg.

Reeders easily distanced himself to win his event, leaping 48’0” to become a back-to-back state champion in the event. Harris showed off her skills by jumping 38’0” to earn her title. Both athletes also broke school records along the way in the event.

New Kent’s boys scored 26 points, finishing in 11th place at the meet. The Lady Trojans accumulated 24.5 points to finish in 10th place in the state competition.
