Charles City Black Sox reunion

The Charles City Black Sox, a baseball team that represented the county in the Negro League until 1988, had a celebration ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 15 at Harrison Park. The team allowed African American players to participate in the game and was composed of many notable names. Among the players include Willie Mays, who participated while he was stationed at Fort Eustis. The alumni celebrated the occasion with a four-inning Gold and Black exhibition game.
