New Kent girls, boys third in home cross-country contest
New Kent’s girls’ and boys’ cross-country teams earned third place finishes as part of their Sept. 18 three-team Bay Rivers District home meet.
On the girls’ side, Kori Massey led the Lady Trojans as she finished in 10th place with a time of 23:05. The next six finishers were all New Kent runners. Crossing the line behind Massey was Rosie Gilbride (23:15), Natasha Lange (23:22), Tabitha Gill (23:22), Katelyn Gray (23:25), Magnolia Lang (23:58), and Charlotte Verdu (24:02).
The Lady Trojans scored 55 points, finishing behind eventual winner Grafton (15), and Warhill (48).
On the boys’ side, Patrick Johnson clocked a time of 18:01, good enough to finish fifth in the meet.
New Kent scored 47 points, barely being edged out by Warhill (45) for second place. Grafton easily claimed the meet with 16 points.
