Jamestown cruises in straight sets over New Kent
If there is one thing that has been consistent about volleyball in the Bay Rivers District, it’s the fact that many teams reload and don’t rebuild. Such is the case with the Jamestown Lady Eagles.
Overpowering a smaller New Kent Lady Trojans’ team, the visitors cruised to a 25-7, 25-21, 25-22 victory over the hosts during Sept. 26 district game.
Jamestown established the tempo in the first set, placing the balls in spots that New Kent could not get to. The visitors raced out the gate to an 18-3 advantage before settling in for the win.
Sets two and three were more competitive, but mostly due to substituting by the Lady Eagles. Despite the rotation with the roster, Jamestown forced the Lady Trojans into early mistakes that were too much for the hosts to recover from.
New Kent falls to 3-5 on the season, while Jamestown continues to improve with a record of 8-4.
