Harris places in horizontal jumps at Group 3A indoor state track meet
New Kent’s Lady Trojans accumulated nine points, good enough to finish in 18th place at the Group 3A State Indoor Track and Field Championships held Mar. 2-3 at Liberty University.
Senior Raven Harris was able to place in the top eight in each of the horizontal jumping events. She leaped to a season best 16’10½” in the girls’ long jump to finish in fourth place. She followed that performance with a leap of 34’9¼” in the girls’ triple jump to earn sixth place. Teammate Julia Hathaway also scored in the girls’ triple jump with a leap of 34’4½”, finishing in eight.
On the boys’ side, the Trojans put together an eight-point performance, good enough to finish in 21st at the state championship meet.
Brandon Bauman’s clearance of 13’0½” in the boys’ pole vault positioned him to take fourth place at the meet. Teammate Patrick Johnson ran a season best 4:31.70 in the boys’ 1600-meter run, finishing in sixth place.
