Lone Lady Panther Williams wins track meet at Northumberland; Smith captures five events to lead Charles City to victory

Charles City’s girls’ and boys’ indoor track teams emerged with victories at Northumberland’s Polar Bear meet Saturday morning.

The lone Lady Panther, Alexis Williams, won six events to accumulate 30 points to single-handily defeat Mathews (26) and Northumberland (15). Williams won the girls’ long jump (15’10”), girls’ triple jump (33’6”), girls’ shot (20’6”), girls’ 55-meter hurdles (10.97), girls’ 55-meter dash (8.29), and girls’ 300-meter dash (52.84).

On the boys’ side, Charles City’s D’Angelo Smith won five events as the Panthers were able to edge Northumberland and Mathews to win the meet.

Smith claimed victories in the boys’ long jump (20’1”), boys’ triple jump (40’7”), boys’ high jump (4’10”), boys’ 55-meter dash (7.43), and boys’ 300-meter dash (43.19). Panther teammates Ashton English and Justin Post-Parada were able to help Charles City early 37 points, edging out Northumberland (33), and Mathews (31).
