Horse racing returns to Colonial Downs on July 19

Thoroughbred horse racing will return to New Kent County at Colonial Downs beginning Monday, July 19.

The Colonial Downs Group enters its third year of racing in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Races will take place Monday-Wednesday, with $500,000 daily purses over a seven-week span that ends on Sept. 1. Post time will be at 1:45 p.m. each day.

“We are so excited to have the best horses and horsemen from around the country and the best fans from the Richmond region and beyond returning for live racing in New Kent,” stated vice president of racing operations at Colonial Downs Jill Byrne.

“We have worked incredibly hard preparing for fans to return,” added John Marshall, executive vice president of operations at Colonial Downs. “Our team is ready to have fun and provide some of the best entertainment available in Virginia.”

General admission and parking are free and reserved grandstand seating starts at $5. Tickets are available at www.colonialdowns.com.
