Williams named assistant athletic director for media relations at Bowie State

Jolisa Williams, a 2008 graduate of Charles City High School and former Lady Panther standout, has been named the Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations at Bowie State University.

Williams spent the previous six years at Shaw University in the same position and will take over for retiring Sports Information Director Gregory Goings. She was named the CIAA Sports Information Director of the Year in 2017 while employed by Shaw University.

Williams has also worked as the Sports Information and Marketing at Richard Bland College in 2014, and also interned at Virginia State University where she aided in a number of athletic areas. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Management in 2012, graduating Magna Cum Laude from St. Augustine’s University where she also played for the Lady Falcons basketball team. She earned a Master’s Degree from Virginia State University.

As a member of Charles City High School Lady Panthers’ basketball team, Williams was a four-time First Team All Tri-Rivers District member and was named as the Group 1A Region A Player of the Year during the 2006-07 season. Williams guided Charles City to their first regional appearance in school history during the same year. She finished her high school career as the second leading scorer in Lady Panthers history and tops the school’s list in assists.
