New Kent High School Lady Trojans place 11th in cross-country state championships; boys’ finish 12th at meet

New Kent High School’s Lady Trojans cross-country team earned an 11th place finish at the Group 3A State Championships Saturday afternoon at Green Hill Park in Salem.

Freshman Madison Johnson was the top performer for the Lady Trojans, finishing in 45th place with a time of 21:10.80. Other scorers for New Kent were Rosemarie Gilbride (63rd-22:16.30), Lauren Vick (64th- 22:17.20), Gabrielle Butler (77th-22:57.00), and Brooke Swarringim (79th-23:00.30). Other participants for the Lady Trojans were Kori Massey (84th-23:11.00) and Campbell Proffitt (100th-24:51.80).

New Kent accumulated 249 points to earn their 11th place team finish. Maggie Walker captured the Group 3A State Championship with 72 points.
On the boys’ side, New Kent High earned a 12th place finish at the Group 3A State Championships.

Sophomore Isaac Lamprecht paced the Trojans runners, earning a top ten finish by placing 10th with a time of 16:40. Other scorers for New Kent were Will Ashley (38th-17:33), Luke Holloway (94th-19:28.60), Jack Porter (96th-19:47.50), and Jackson Geisendaffer (97th-19:49.10). Other runners for the Trojans were Logan Rooks (98th-19:49.10) and Tyler Mara (100th-20:13.20).

New Kent scored 268 points in the meet to earn the 12th place spot. Abingdon won the boys’ competition with 33 points.
