New Kent High School’s Guirterrez claims regional diving title, Wetherington wins gold in 50-meter freestyle

New Kent High School’s Aisling Guirterrez won the diving competition in the Group 3A Region A championship held this past weekend.

Guirterrez was among one of the many highlights achieved at the meet. Gavin Wetherington placed first in the 50-meter freestyle at the regional competition. He also broke the school record in the 100-meter backstroke.

Guirterrez and Wetherington highlight several Trojan swimmers who will participate at the Group 3A State swim championships in Richmond. Other participants will be Sadie Call, Kendal Vorous, Ian Durkee, Jordan Owens, Cooper Harris, Blake Newton, Isaac Lamprecht, Summer Wetherington, Neeley Pesola, and Logan Stroop.
