Single point difference-maker as Lady Trojans place second at regional indoor track and field meet

New Kent High School’s Lady Trojans Indoor Track & Field team was edged by a mere point as they had to settle for second place in the Group 3A Region A championships held Feb. 18-19 at the Boo Williams Complex in Hampton.

New Kent scored 112 points, finishing one point behind Bay Rivers District Rival Tabb who scored 113 points. York, another district foe, rounded out the top three by accumulating 70 points.

Amy Rudolph won the girls’ pole vault competition, clearing a height of 8’6”. Meanwhile, a slew of top three finishes piled up points for the Lady Trojans.

On the boys’ side, New Kent scored 83.5 points, good enough for a fourth-place finish at the meet.

Markus Syndor’s clearance of 11’9” was good enough to win the pole vault competition for the Trojans. Brandon Heffinger’s time of 37.48 was fast enough to win the boys’ 300-meter dash.

Tabb also captured the boys’ regional championship, scoring 133 points.
