Lady Trojans capture Shoot the Gun & Run Invitational title behind three wins from Hathaway, Massey

Powered by three wins from both Julia Hathaway and Kori Massey, New Kent’s Lady Trojans claimed the 8th Annual Shoot the Gun and Run Track and Field Invitational held Saturday on their home track.

Hathaway earned first place finishes in the girls’ 100-meter dash (13.35), 400-meter dash (59.97), and long jump (14’10½”). Massey swept both sets of hurdles, winning the 100-meter distance with a time of 17.42 and the 300-meter race in 51.26. Her third win came in the girls’ high jump with a personal best clearance of 4’10”.

Other event winners for the Lady Trojans were Gabrielle Butler in the 200-meter dash (27.75), Madison Johnson in the 800-meter run (2:34.95), Lauren Vick in the 3200-meter run (13:33.67), Amy Rudolph in the pole vault (8’9”), Ara Buchman in the triple jump (32’2”), and both the 4×400 and 4×800 meter relay teams with times of 4:29.34 and 10:51.23, respectively.

New Kent’s Lady Trojans accumulated 215.5 points, easily outdistancing themselves from runner up J.R. Tucker who finished 98.5 points. Charles City’s Lady Panthers earned 30 points, finishing sixth in the meet.

On the boys’ side, New Kent’s Isaac Lamprecht claimed both of the long-distance races to help the Trojans place sixth in the meet.
Lamprecht set the pace early in the 1600-meter run, winning with a time of 4:50.45. He followed that performance by capturing the 3200-meter run with a performance of 10:37.84.

New Kent scored 63 points in the boys’ team scores, with West Point winning the title with a total of 134 points. Charles City’s Panthers finished eighth by scoring two points in the meet.
