New Kent boys’ tennis split opening week matches

New Kent High School boys’ tennis team split a pair of contests last week to open the 2022 Spring season.

The Trojans began the year with a 5-4 win over Colonial Heights on Mar. 15. The team fell 5-4 to Walsingham Academy in the Mar. 18 contest.

New Kent 5, Colonial Heights 4

Singles: Hanson (NK) def. Thorpe (CH) 6-1, 6-2; Bennett (CH) def. Diggs (NK) 6-4, 6-3; Moore (CH) def. Edwards (NK) 6-0, 7-5; Alexander (NK) def. Wilson (CH) 6-2, 6-1; Krause (NK) def. Moody (CH) 2-6, 7-5, 10-6; Evelyn (NK) def. He (CH) 6-2, 6-3.

Doubles: Hanson-Diggs (NK) def. Thorpe-Wilson (CH) 8-1; Bennett-He (CH) def. Edwards-Evelyn (NK) 8-5; Moore-Moody (CH) def. Krause-Pezza (NK) 8-1.

Walsingham 5, New Kent 4
