New Kent teams place fourth at Charles City Track and Field Invitational

Both the New Kent Trojans girls’ and boys’ track and field teams earned fourth place finishes among 27 teams at the Charles City Invitational held last Saturday.

On the girls’ side, the quartet of Madison Johnson, Lauren Vick, Tabitha Gill, and Gabrielle Butler won the 4×800 meter relay with a time of 10:48.48. The 4×400 combination of Gill, Butler, Jakeira Thomas, and Julia Hathaway earned silver with a time of 4:28.87. Butler also finished second in the girls’ 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.28., while Jaiden McCoy chucked the discus 82’6” to finish as runner-up in the event. Lauren Vick finished third in the 3200-meter run with a time of 13:15.17.

On the boys’ side, Isaac Lamprecht captured the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:47.08 and finished as runner-up in the boys 1600-meter run by clocking a time of 4:47.48. The combination of Markus Sydnor, Aaron Sweeney, Brandon Heffinger, and Phillip Woodley finished as runners-up in the 4×400 meter relay, posting a time of 3:43.04. Markus Sydnor cleared a height of 9’0” to finish third in the pole vault.

The Lady Trojans finished with 97 points at the meet, while the Trojans boys’ team finished with 45. Charles City did not score at the meet. Potomac Senior High School won both the girls’ and boys’ meet.
