Charles City girls, boys place fourth in home track competition
Charles City’s girls’ and boys’ track and field teams both accumulated fourth place finishes at their May 5 home meet featuring seven teams.
In boys’ competition, Charles City’s Walter Dickerson finished second in the discus with a mark of 95’10”. He also placed third in the shot competition with a heave of 32’8”.
Dickerson’s two marks accumulated all 14 points for the Panthers. King William won the boys’ portion with 164 points, followed by Northumberland’s 131 points and King & Queen’s 47 points to finish in the top three.
On the girls’ side, Nevaeh Coney placed second in the girls’ triple jump with a leap of 30’7” to lead the Lady Panthers. She also earned a pair of third place finishes in the girls’ long jump (12’10”) and 400-meter dash (1:08.62).
The Lady Panthers scored 31 points in the competition, finishing behind meet winner Northumberland (110), runner-up King & Queen (83), and King William (73).
