Lamprecht captures gold at 3A Region A cross-country championship meet
New Kent’s Isaac Lamprecht conquered the Bells Mill Park course in Chesapeake as he emerged as the Group 3A Region A cross-country champion during the Nov. 2 meet.
Lamprecht ran a time of 16:33.63, more than 30 seconds faster than his next closest competitor as he powered New Kent to a third-place finish and an automatic qualifying berth in the Group 3A State cross-country championships.
Will Ashley’s time of 17:53.75 placed him ninth among competitors in the competition. Other scorers for the Trojans were Ryan Wright (13th- 18:15.11), Luke Holloway (20th- 18:41.12), and Luis Macia Fernandez DeBaabadilla (27th- 19:43.07). Other participants were Josh Mills-Hall (28th- 19:43.28), and Logan Rooks (32nd- 20:27.82.)
New Kent finished with 70 points for the bronze. Bay Rivers District Rival Tabb won the meet with 27 points, while Lafayette finished as runners-up with 53 points.
On the girls’ side, New Kent accumulated 83 points, good enough for a fourth-place team finish in the regional competition.
Madison Johnson earned a top ten finish for the Lady Trojans, placing seventh with a time of 21:29.73. Other scorers for New Kent were Gabrielle Butler (15th- 24:03.09), Campbell Proffitt (19th- 25:12.55), Brooke Swarringim (26:31.86), and Serra Swartout (26th- 26:49.17). Other participants were Lauren Walker (27th- 26:59.99) and Delialah Doolittle (43rd- 29:45.00).
New Kent district rivals Tabb (52), Lafayette (61), and York (63) finished in the top three spots, respectively.
