Gutierrez wins Group 3A state diving title
New Kent High School Aisling Gutierrez captured the state championship in the girls one-meter dive competition at the Group 3A State Swimming and Diving Championships held Feb. 16-17.
Gutierrez amassed 487.40 points, easily outdistancing herself from her opponents to capture the victory.
New Kent’s Lady Trojans scored 28 points in the event, finishing in 20th place at state championships.
On the boys’ side, the Trojans accumulated 39 points, also good enough to finish 20th at the state competition.
Freshman Dylan Konings was the top placer for the Trojans swimmers, placing 10th in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:08.10.
