Branch emerges as lone event winner at New Kent home track competition

New Kent’s Ellis Branch emerged as the lone event winner as the Trojans hosted a Bay Rivers District track meet on Mar. 28.
Branch captured the top spot in the boys’ triple jump, leaping 41’9¾” for the win, besting the next closest competitor by more than a foot-and-a-half.
New Kent’s boys’ team finished with 47.33 points, good enough for eighth place at the meet.
On the girls’ side, New Kent accumulated 11.5 points, finishing in tenth place at the competition.
The top performers for the Lady Trojans were Canyah Byrd and Autumn Wallace, who both finished in fourth in their respective events. Wallace claimed fourth in the pole vault with a clearance of 8’6”, while Byrd captured fourth in the girls’ shot with a heave of 30’7”.
Both Warhill’s girls and boys’ teams won the Bay Rivers District meet.
