Wooten’s win highlights Panthers sixth place finish at home track meet

Charles City’s Rickie Wooten Jr. captured the boys’ 110-meter hurdles as the Panthers boys’ track and field team finished in sixth place out of 11 teams at the May 4 home track meet.

Wooten clocked a time of 20.62 to capture the top spot. His finish helped Charles City accumulate 29 points to finish in sixth.

On the girls’ side, Charles City’s Lady Panthers scored 17 points to finish ninth overall at the meet. Jaela Smith’s leap of 27’7½” in the girls’ triple jump was good enough for fourth in the event and emerged as the Lady Panthers top performance at the meet.

Lafayette’s boys’ team and King & Queen’s girls’ teams emerged as victors of the competition.
