Washington represents Charles City at Group 1A State Track & Field Championships

Chares City’s Janiya Washington participated in the Group 1A State Track and Field Championships on June 3-4 at James Madison University.

Washington’s best performance was in the 100-meter dash, clocking a time of 13.38 to finish in 11th place. She set a personal record of 27.61 in the girls’ 200-meter dash, finishing 16th, and finished in 12th place in the girls’ 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.97.

Charles City’s Lady Panthers did not score in the event, while there were no boys represented from the school. Lancaster’s boys and Auburn’s girls’ won the state titles, respectively.
