New Kent’s Lady Trojans are looking like the state championship team that they were two years ago. And another strong outing on Apr. 10 backed that up.

New Kent defeated the visiting Warhill Lady Lions 3-1, keeping their record unblemished as they returned to action from Spring Break.

Lady Trojan Sydney Eubank started the scoring for the hosts with an RBI triple in the bottom of the second inning. In the bottom of the fourth, teammate Cassidy Branch cleared the fence with her solo home run to provide the hosts a 2-0 lead.

New Kent increased their lead to three after Hannah Perkins’ base knock brought home Leah Rounds in the bottom of the fifth. Warhill countered with a score in the top of the sixth, but the hosts locked in, thanks to 11 strikeouts from Amber Greiner in the win.

After the contest, New Kent Lady Trojans’ Head Coach Maria Bates spoke about the satisfying triumph.

“It was a close game every inning, but we kept our composure with base running along with timely hitting with our entire line-up,” she said.

New Kent improves to 6-0 on the season.
