New Kent’s Lady Trojans softball team saw their win streak snapped during Monday night’s road game at Hanover Lady Hawks.

New Kent fell 4-1 in the non-district contest, falling to the undefeated team for a second consecutive time.

In the top of the first, Lady Trojan Hannah Tober hit a solo home run over the center field wall to provide the guests a lead. The advantage would continue to side with New Kent until Hanover’s Emma Slutzah’s double in the bottom of the fourth drove in a run to tie the game at one apiece.

The game remained in a stalemate until the bottom of the sixth inning as Lady Hawk Lillian Parrish’s RBI triple drove home teammates Kaileigh Byars and Slutzah. The hosts added another run courtesy of Brianna Wheeler’s single. From there, Hanover held onto the lead, keeping New Kent from adding runs in the top of the seventh.

The Lady Trojans’ record falls to 11-2 on the season.
