Lamprecht, Wright capture individual titles at Group 3A State Track & Field Championships
New Kent’s Isaac Lamprecht and Ryan Wright emerged as state champions after winning their respective events at the Group 3A State Track & Field Championships held May 31-June 1 at Liberty University in Lynchburg.
Wright claimed gold in the boys’ pole vault with a clearance of 14’0”. Lamprecht captured the 3200-meter run with a time of 9:08.60 to finish first. He also earned bronze in the boys’ 1600-meter run with a time of 4:19.88.
New Kent’s boys scored 26 points, finishing seventh at the state championships, one of their highest finishes in several years. The girls’ team did not score in the competition. Rustburg’s boys and Heritage of Lynchburg’s girls emerged as state champions.
