Colonial Downs announce record 44-day race season for 2025

Colonial Downs is set to hold a record number of races in the 2025 thoroughbred season.

The Virginia Racing Commission approved a 44-day calendar of live racing for the venue. Colonial Downs will also host its first Kentucky Derby qualifier race on March 15, with The Virginia Derby serving as the host meet during the special three-day event.

The live race season will begin with the aforementioned Virginia Derby, with the remainder calendar commencing on July 9 with live racing each Wednesday through Saturday. The race season is scheduled to conclude on Sept. 13.
