In the opening set, New Kent jump out 4-1 and increased their lead to 8-3 after a kill by Leah Rounds and ace by Brielle Perry. Lafayette responded with a run to cut the home team’s lead down to two (10-8) before New Kent gathered themselves. The Lady Trojans put together a 15-7 outburst, forcing the visitors into errors and countering Lafayette’s power with kills of their own to capture the first set.

In the second frame, New Kent took an early 5-0 lead after Desirae Stowe’s ace. But from there, Lafayette battled back and both teams battled back and forth. Lafayette went on a 6-0 run with an ace by Emily Kapandelov tying the game at 19 apiece.
New Kent held steady as a Lady Ram service error returned control to the host. The Lady Trojans took control of the frame, with an error by Lafayette’s Kylah Matthews sailing out of bounds to give the hosts a 2-0 advantage.

New Kent trailed 6-2 early in the third before another Rounds’ kill shifted moment. With the game tied at 10, the hosts flexed their muscles, outscoring the visitors 15-7 in the frame to complete the sweep of their Bay Rivers District opponent.
