New Kent Lady Trojans can Kettle Run Cougars; advance to Group 3A state semifinals

New Kent’s Lady Trojans’ road to their second state title in three years kicked off Tuesday evening against the visiting Kettle Run Lady Cougars. And for the home team, the drive now continues to the state semifinals. The Lady Trojans dominated on the diamond, emerging with a 6-0 victory and earning a bid to face Turner Ashby Friday morning at 10 a.m. at Monticello High School. Lady Trojans’ tennis fall in Group 3A state quarterfinals to James Monroe

New Kent’s Lady Trojans fell to the visiting James Monroe Lady Yellow Jackets in the state quarterfinals on May 31. New Kent fell in straight competition, falling 5-0 to the visitors from Fredericksburg. The Lady Trojans finish the season 13-5 and as the Group 3A Region A champions.

Charles City girls’ relay place fifth at state championship meet

Charles City’s Lady Panthers 4×100 relay team placed fifth at the Group 1A State Track & Field Championships held at James Madison University on May 31-June 1. The quartet of Jaida Braxton, Taniyah Williams, Jaela Smith, and Derequa Johnson ran a time of 52.72 in the event, leading to the best finish for Charles City at the competition. Johnson also placed eighth in the girls’ pole vault with a clearance of 7’0”. Charles City’s Lady Panthers scored five points at the meet, finishing in 29th place. Lamprecht, Wright capture individual titles at Group 3A State Track & Field Championships

New Kent’s Isaac Lamprecht and Ryan Wright emerged as state champions after winning their respective events at the Group 3A State Track & Field Championships held May 31-June 1 at Liberty University in Lynchburg. Wright claimed gold in the boys’ pole vault with a clearance of 14’0”. Lamprecht captured the 3200-meter run with a time of 9:08.60 to finish first. He also earned bronze in the boys’ 1600-meter run with a time of 4:19.88. New Kent’s boys scored 26 points, finishing seventh at the state championships, one of their highest finishes in several years. The girls’ team did not score…

Lady Trojans no-hit Tabb, win Group 3A Region A Championship

New Kent’s Lady Trojans softball team captured another regional title in dominant fashion; this time by no-hitting their rival the Tabb Lady Tigers. New Kent cruised to a 10-0 victory while keeping Tabb without out a hit in the five-inning affair, advancing to the state quarterfinals and a first-round home game after their May 30 triumph. The Lady Trojans started attacking in the bottom of the first inning. Libby Britt’s base hit brought in the first run of the game. Lamprecht wins two regional titles; New Kent boys, girls’ track teams finish fifth

New Kent Senior Isaac Lamprecht emerged as a double-event winner as the Trojans’ track and field team finished fifth at the Group 3A Region A Championship held May 22-23 at Lakeland High School. Lamprecht captured both of the long distance races at the meet, winning the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:29.95 and the 3200-meter run with a time of 9:44.57. Teammate Will Ashley also garnered a top three finish by clocking 10:22.63 in the 3200-meter run. New Kent scored 52.5 points at the meet.
