Charles City’s Derequa Johnson finished third in the girls’ triple jump as the Lady Panthers placed eighth in the Group 1A/2A Region A Indoor Track and Field championships held Feb. 14 at Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton. Johnson leaped a distance of 32’8” to earn a right to the Group 1A/2A state championships that will be held on Feb. 28-29 at Liberty University. New Kent High School’s Wrestling Team continues their dominance at the regional level. Facing foul trouble from the onset of the contest along with struggles from key scorers, New Kent’s Trojans dropped a Friday night contest 70-66 to the visiting Smithfield Packers.
