New Kent’s Lamprecht places third at Group 3A State Cross-Country Championships

New Kent High School Senior Isaac Lamprecht finished in third place as the Group 3A State Cross-Country Championships held Saturday afternoon at Green Hill Park in Salem. Lamprecht earned the bronze medal by clocking a time of 15:21.20. Teammate Will Ashley ran a time of 17:01.40, finishing in 56th place at the meet. On the girls’ side, Lady Trojan Madison Johnson accumulated a time of 20:07.50, good enough to finish 42nd at the competition. All three runners competed as individuals at the meet, thus not allowing them to accumulate a team score at the state championships.

Six Lady Trojans volleyball players earn spots on Region 3A All-Region teams

Several New Kent High School Lady Trojans’ volleyball players earned positions on the Region 3A All-Region Team during a recent selection. Juniors Fallon Greenawalt and Mackenzie Loveland were given nods as members of the Region 3A First Team. Greenawalt was named as an outside hitter, while Loveland was named as a setter. Three Lady Trojan players earned spots on the Region 3A Second Team. Sophomore Leah Rounds (middle hitter), senior Courtney Carter (outside hitter), and junior Abby McLaughlin (libero) achieved the accolades. Three Charles City High School athletes earn all-district recognition

A trio of Charles City High School athletes were selected to Tidewater All-District teams in their respective sports. Sophomore Damian Barnes Jr. was named to the First Team Tidewater All-District in football as a punter. Senior teammate Justin Post-Parada earned Second Team accolades at the linebacker position. In girls’ volleyball, sophomore Jaela Smith was named as a member of the Tidewater All-District second team.

New Kent Lady Trojans’ volleyball team fall in state quarterfinals at Fauquier

New Kent’s Lady Trojans volleyball team season came to an end Saturday afternoon as they fell to the Fauquier Lady Falcons. The team fell 25-22, 13-25, 12-25, 23-25 in the four-set affair in the state quarterfinals. New Kent concludes its season with a record of 14-13.

New Kent High School cheerleading finish second at region, eighth in state competition

New Kent High School’s Competition Cheerleading Squad completed their 2023 season by placing eighth in the Group 3A state competition. The team accumulated 185.25 points to garner the position. The team advanced to the state championships by placing second at the Group 3A Region A competition on Oct. 28. New Kent scored 265.75 at the regional meet to earn the state berth.

New Kent’s Lady Trojans had already clinched a berth to the state tournament but sought to add a regional championship trophy as they faced Bay Rivers District rival Grafton’s Lady Clippers, a team that swept every match in district play. And while the visiting Lady Trojans didn’t capture a win, snatching a set from a team that had only lost two all year still provided a positive outlook heading into the state quarterfinals. Six Lady Trojans named to all-district volleyball teams

Six New Kent Lady Trojan volleyball players received all Bay Rivers District accolades after the coaches selected the individuals during a recent meeting. Outside hitter Fallon Greenawalt and libero Abby McLaughlin were chosen to the Bay Rivers District First Team. Setter Mackenzie Loveland and outside hitter Leah Rounds received Second Team recognition, while outside hitter Courtney Carter and opposite hitter Lexi Powell were named to the Bay Rivers District Honorable Mention team.
