New Kent’s Lady Trojans’ tennis team swept Warhill during a May 2 Bay Rivers District affair. The Lady Trojans’ record improves to 7-4. New Kent 9, Warhill 0 Singles: Smith (NK) def. Pitching woes continue to hurt Lady Panthers as Middlesex steamrolls to victory

Woes on the mound have plagued Charles City’s Lady Panthers. They continued Tuesday against the visiting Middlesex Lady Chargers. Multiple walks along with hits from the visitors resulted in Middlesex blasting Charles City 25-0 in the five-inning Tidewater District affair. Charles City’s woes began early, as pitcher Alanye’ Greene walked home the first run of the game for the guests as the bases were loaded. More miscues allowed additional runs to cross home plate. Charles City’s baseball woes continue, falls 17-1 to Middlesex

Struggles continue for Charles City High School’s baseball team. This time, it was at the bats of the visiting Middlesex Chargers. Seven first inning runs provided more than enough space as the Chargers downed Charles City 17-1 in the Tidewater district contest. Already down 3-0, Middlesex’s Trey Fitchett brought home the next score. After Charles City’s Carson Menefee walked the next pair of batters, Kaden Hunley’s RBI double drove home the next two runs for the guests. Charles City racks up pair of third place finishes at home track meet

Charles City’s boys’ team finished in sixth place at their Apr. 27 home track and field meet that saw eight teams compete on their home track. Charles City scored 13 points, led by Ashton English’s third place finish in the discus that saw him toss the implement 96’4”. On the girls’ side, Charles City accumulated 14 points, good enough for a seventh-place finish. Charles City’s top performer was Jaela Smith in the girls’ 400-meter dash. A physical contest with the visiting Hopewell Lady Blue Devils proved to test the might of the hosting New Kent Lady Trojans. The hosts were able to handle battle. The Lady Trojans compiled a 3-0 shutout in the Apr. 26 contest, notching win number two in a row for the hosts. For most of the first half, neither team could find a way to put the ball in the back of the net as the physicality kept the ball from crossing midfield for most of the game. New Kent rallies with three second half goals to defeat Thomas Jefferson

New Kent’s boys’ soccer team needed to find a way to get things going to turn around their season as it winds down. Three second half goals against the visiting Thomas Jefferson Vikings provided the kickstart they needed. With Mickel Prince scoring two goals to open the second half of play, New Kent defeated Thomas Jefferson 3-1 in the Apr. 26 contest. In the opening half, the Vikings staved off offensive attacks from the Trojans, with prime goalkeeping preventing the hosts from scoring. Meanwhile, it was forward Immanuel Williams for the visitors that provided Thomas Jefferson a 1-0 halftime advantage….
