Lamprecht humble as he qualifies for world triathlon championships

Some kids dream of traveling the world and seeing locations only pictures could put in books. For rising New Kent High School Senior Isaac Lamprecht, his athletic talents have put many stamps in his passport. Lamprecht emerged as the U20 Sprint Triathlon National Championship, earning him an opportunity to participate in the Triathlon World Championships in Malaga, Spain. Horse racing returning to Colonial Downs on July 13

Live horseracing will return to Colonial Downs in New Kent starting July 13. Under the new ownership of Churchill Downs, racing will be held every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with post times beginning at 1:30 p.m. “It’s an exciting time for Colonial Downs and New Kent County in 2023,” said Frank Hopf, Senior Director of Racing Operations. “The goal is to provide our guests a terrific experience and with the return of weekend racing, world class stakes racing and new amenities, we are on the right path this season.” Family activities and entertainment will be offered every Saturday. New Kent Lady Trojans’ softball place four on all-state teams

Four New Kent Lady Trojans were recognized to the Group 3A All-State team in softball for the Spring 2023 season. Recent graduate Morgan Berg was selected to the First Team at the position of pitcher. Joining her on the first team were sophomore teammates Alline Alexander, who claimed an outfield spot, and Hannah Tober, who was selected to the utility position. On the second team, freshman Leah Rounds garnered all-state recognition at the third base position.

Five Trojans earn all-region recognition in boys’ soccer

Five New Kent boys’ soccer players were recognized on the Group 3A Region A all-district team. Conner Bailey and Nathan Karaffa were tabbed with all region- first team recognition. Teammates Mickel Prince, Tyler Amos, and William Sutherland garnered all-region second team honors.

New Kent’s Heath, Seely named to All-State First Team; Ronan selected as Coach of the Year

New Kent’s Bradyen Heath and Carson Seely were named to the Group 3A All-State First Team in baseball. Heath was selected as the team’s catcher, while Seely received the nod at outfielder. Seely as also named to the Group 3A All-State Second Team as a pitcher. New Kent’s Head Coach Trevor Ronan was named as the Group 3A State Coach of the Year. He led New Kent to a record of 21-5-1 record en route to guiding the Trojans to the Group 3A State Championship.
