New Kent High School golf captures 3A Regional title

New Kent High School’s Golf Team captured the 3A Regional Championship on Sept. 27 with a team score of 305, winning by seven strokes over York. The team was led by Brent Ferry (2nd-74), Dillon Mickles (3rd-74), and Kyle Diggs (5th-77). Other team members participating were Robert Edwards (80), Palmer Douglas (82), and Charlie Schwarz (97). The team will now advance to the state golf championship on Oct. 11 at Stonehenge Golf & Country Club in Richmond.

In physical contest, New Kent withstands Lafayette in 2-0 shutout

Overcoming a lot of physical play and capitalizing off penalty corners, New Kent’s Lady Trojans defeated the visiting Lafayette Rams 2-0 in a Sept. 22 field hockey contest. The hosts’ defense prevented Lafayette from converting many penalty corner opportunities. But when it was time for New Kent to have a penalty corner, they took advantage of it. Lamprecht wins home cross-country meet; New Kent girls, boys place third overall

New Kent’s Isaac Lamprecht crossed the finish line in first place as he won New Kent High School’s home cross-country meet on Sept. 21. Lamprecht crossed the line in 16:40, edging Grafton’s Connor Linehan who finished two seconds behind. Overall, the Trojans finished in third place in the meet, finishing one point behind Warhill and 23 points behind Grafton. New Kent’s Trojans football team entered Friday night’s contest with the goal of gaining a measure of revenge on a Warhill Lions’ squad that has dominated the series in the last three matchups.
