J. T. Clark, a New Kent County native and resident of Mechanicsville, won the Jake Horney Memorial Award during the recent 55th Virginia Auctioneers Association Educational Convention held in Richmond.

The annual award recognizes an auctioneer who exhibits outstanding dedication to the VAA and the auctioneering profession.

Clark said in his acceptance remarks that he owed his strength to his wife, Kay-Kay, and thanked the members of the association for their guidance and counsel.

He is the regional head auctioneer for a nationally recognized Fortune 500 company in charge of 13 weekly and biweekly auctions in six different states. He is a 1986 graduate of the Mendenhall School of Auctioneering in High Point, N.C. and the Mosley Flint Real Estate School.

Clark has represented the Virginia auction industry as the 1988-89 state champion auctioneer. He was named the 2004 Virginia auctioneer of the year and most recently served as the 2007 president of the Virginia Auctioneers Association.
