Editorial: Stepping out your comfort zone to take a risk

By Robb Johnson | March 8, 2022 10:14 am

In a world where we are comfortable doing just enough, when is that no longer good enough?

We all have a comfort zone whether we admit it or not. The purpose of that zone can be anything from personal to professional reasons. This is understandable because in life, we have certain habits and do not want to break those habits.

The problem is sometimes we never break out of this zone for fear of not getting the same results. We have to grow and understand that in life we have to start taking chances. So many people call it taking a risk, but I call it branching out to expand your mind and spirits.

The comfort zone has personally held me back for a long time. I had to think differently. I had to change my mindset and attitude.

We all claim we want to be better and say that we deserve better. This can be true, but the problem is we have to challenge not only ourselves, but the people around us to become better. It is known universally that not everyone is going to buy into making the best decisions to reach their goals. Not everyone will agree with you or support you. That’s okay. They are comfortable with you and feel that breaking that cycle will alter relationships and friendships, maybe even family ties.

The bottom line is that in this day and time, there are so many ways to grow. You have to make a way for yourself. You do not want to grow old doing the same things you were doing 20 years ago. I can assure anyone right now that you can go throughout your community and witness people doing things they were doing years ago. What kind of life is that?

If you have the opportunity to break through that comfort zone, do it today and don’t wait. It could be too late if you wait. The goal should be to set the standard and not just another person who wasted it all.
