Temporary traffic signal at New Kent Highway and Interstate 64 intersection to begin operations on Jan. 22
A temporary traffic signal at the intersection of Route 33 (New Kent Highway) and Interstate 64 westbound will become operational on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
Located at exit 205 (Bottoms Bridge), the light will transition the left lane of Route 33 northbound into a left turn only lane for motorists to get on Interstate 64 westbound. The adjustment eliminates the short acceleration lane and provides a safer work zone for construction personnel. The westbound loop ramp to Interstate 64 from Route 33 will be closed until early 2027 as part of the Interstate 64 expansion.
Flash mode will began on Monday, Jan. 20, with full operation of the light beginning on Jan. 22.
