Virginia Beach man indicted in New Kent Circuit Court for pursuit, striking vehicles

A Virginia Beach man who allegedly led a high-speed chase through New Kent County has been indicted on several charges.

Jeremiah Neil Costa, 23, of the 3300 block of Scarborough Way, was indicted on one count of felony eluding and five counts of felony destruction of property during Monday morning grand jury proceedings in New Kent.

The indictments allege that on Aug. 30, officers attempted to execute a traffic stop on Costa. The defendant allegedly did not pull over and initiate a chase through New Kent. During his attempt to escape, the defendant allegedly struck five vehicles, causing major damage to them.

In other indictments certified by the grand jury:

–Sean R. Barnaby, 37, of the 4900 block of Regina Road, Sandston, on a single charge of possession of a Schedule I/II drug with intent to distribute. The defendant was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine and items to sell the substance on June 1.

–Shaun Gregory Brindle, 44, of the 200 block of Park Drive, Petersburg, on a solo count of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. Brindle was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine on May 2.

–Amanda Nichole Cook, 28, of the 1500 block of Dispatch Road, Quinton, on a single count of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The defendant allegedly was in possession of cocaine on May 6.

–Bobby Darrell Cox, 55, of the 600 block of Grayson Street, Norfolk, on one charge each of possession of a Schedule I/II drug, assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, and misdemeanor obstruction of justice. Cox allegedly was in possession of fentanyl on May 27, and when officers tried to arrest him and attacked them.

–Jacob Colby Cunningham, 34, of the 3400 block of McKary Street, Richmond, on a solo charge of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The defendant was allegedly in possession of cocaine on Mar. 8.

–Brandon Patrick Davis, 30, of the 7500 block of Elko Road, Sandston, on one count each of possession of a Schedule I/II drug and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated (first offense). The indictment alleges that on Apr. 21, Davis operated a vehicle while intoxicated and was later discovered to have fentanyl in his possession.

–Michael Lee Gayles, 51, of the 4700 block of Altair Road, Richmond, on one count each of abduction and misdemeanor sexual battery. The offenses allegedly took place on Aug. 28.

–Brian Gentry, 45, (no current address listed), on a single charge of failing to register as a Tier III sex offender. The defendant allegedly did not submit his information to the National Sex Offender Registry database by July 11.

–Darrick Holmes Jr., 30, of the 6000 block of Golden Wheel Road, Providence Forge, on one count of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. Holmes was allegedly in possession of cocaine on May 26.

–James Michael Holt, 35, of the 6300 block of Orchard Road, New Kent, on a solo charge of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. Holt was allegedly in possession of cocaine on May 14.

–Dennis Wayne Hunt, 63, of the 7100 block of Kentmore Road, Lanexa, on one charge each of possession of a Schedule I/II substance and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. Hunt allegedly operated a vehicle while intoxicated on Mar. 21, and was alleged to be in possession of methamphetamine.

–Steven Thomas Jones, 48, of the 2400 block of Oaklawn Boulevard, Hopewell, on one count each of possession of a Schedule I/II drug and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated (first offense). On Feb. 19, Jones allegedly operated a vehicle while intoxicated and was later discovered to be in the possession of cocaine.

–Xavier Jayel Moore, 21, of the 100 block of Fairmont Drive, Hampton, on one count each of felony eluding, misdemeanor fleeing, and misdemeanor concealing a weapon. The offenses allegedly took place on March 18.

–Eli Nazaret Herrera Ordonez, 18, of the 8100 block of Halsey Court, Manassas, on a single count of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The defendant was allegedly in possession of fentanyl on July 13.

–James Edward Patterson Jr., 61, of the 6300 block of Foxrock Lane, Mechanicsville, on one count each of possession of a Schedule I/II drug and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated (first offense). Patterson allegedly drove a vehicle while intoxicated on May 5 and also allegedly was in possession of cocaine.

–Ja’Quinn C. Robinson Johnson, 27, of the 3200 block of Cullenwood Drive, Richmond, on a solo charge of felony hit and run. The offense allegedly took place on Aug. 18.

–Robert Williams Slowinski, 54, of the 3500 block of Poquoson Court, Glen Allen, on one count each of possession of a Schedule I/II drug and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated (first offense). It is alleged that on July 10, the defendant operated a vehicle while intoxicated and was later discovered that he had fentanyl in his possession.

–Elizabeth Ashley Smalley, 42, of the 500 block of Folar Trail, North Prince George, on a solo charge of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. Smalley was allegedly in possession of cocaine on May 21.

–Eric Smith, 35, of the 3800 block of Bolling Road, Richmond, on a single count of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The defendant was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine on June 7.

–James Paul Walton, 38, of the 6600 block of Jackson Road, Quinton, on a single charge of driving revoked (felony related-second or subsequent offense). Walton allegedly drove a vehicle while being revoked based on an early felony crime he committed.

–Thomas Ray Walton, 30, of the 5600 block of Country Drive, Barhamsville, on one count each of possession of a Schedule I/II drug, delivering drugs to a prisoner, assault and battery on a police officer, and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated (second offense). The defendant allegedly tried to deliver drugs to a prisoner and was alleged to have fentanyl in his possession at the time of his arrest. He also is alleged to have attacked a law enforcement officer and operated a vehicle while intoxicated.
