Richard Wallace Morris Jr.

Richard Wallace Morris Jr., 81, of Providence Forge, Virginia, was surrounded by his loved ones as he left to join his departed family after a short battle with brain cancer on Nov. 6, 2023.

Richard was a talented woodworker and skilled craftsman. He was always busy with some project.

Richard retired from the Ford Motor Company after over 30 years of service and later retired again as a First Sergeant from the New Kent Sheriff’s Office. He proceeded to start his successful gravel driveway business “Morris Hauling.”

Richard was a founding member of the Providence Forge Volunteer Rescue Squad and served as captain and chief administrator for 27 years. He was a member of the Blue Knights, was a past president of the New Kent Ruritan Club and other civic organizations. He was well loved in his community.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Marjorie Morris; son, Phillip Morris; stepson, Benjamin Hogge; sister, Diane Parker; and his second wife, Sharon Morris.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Theresa Stuck Morris; daughter, Kim Henshaw (Daryl); stepdaughter, Sherry Crocker (Todd); sister, Sandra Craft; six grandchildren, Chelsey Ammons, Meaghan Henshaw, Brittany Morris, Kyle Henshaw, Christopher Croker, and Alison Crocker; five great-grandchildren; best friends, Chris Hamlet, Jim “D.H.” Squares; and his beloved dog, George.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, Nov. 13, 1:30 p.m. at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, Virginia, with burial following in Washington Memorial Park in Sandston, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. just prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The family wishes to thank Richard’s many dear friends and co-workers that made his life such a joy.
