Ashley earns bronze as New Kent finishes third at home cross-country meet

New Kent High School’s Will Ashley finished third at the Trojans’ Sept. 13 home cross-country meet.

Ashley ran a time of 18:32 to earn the bronze as he powered New Kent to a third-place team finish in the four-team Bay Rivers District meet. Teammate Ryan Wright also finished in the top ten, placing ninth with a time of 19:40.

Tabb won the event, edging Poquoson for the top spot. Smithfield rounded up the team scoring and finished in fourth place.

In the girls’ competition, New Kent’s Andrea Dallaire accumulated a time of 28:41 to finish in 16th place.

Dallaire was the top performer for the Lady Trojans’ team, who only fielded three runners in the competition. Tabb emerged as the team winner, with Smithfield finishing as runners-up. Poquoson also did not have enough runners to be registered for team scoring.
